It’s lovely to have you here! Welcome home. It is my great pleasure to welcome you to one of the Carl.22 City Apartments in the beautiful Eisenach, home to Wartburg Castle.
This building is an old lady whom I’ve given a proper facelift. All the additions from recent decades have been removed, allowing the original features and their unique beauty to finally be revealed once more. Nothing here is square or straight; the lines are idiosyncratic and carefully considered. I decided to use authentic building materials. The design and furnishings reflect my personal taste and my belief in creating a sense of well-being. In this building, I have tried to breathe the spirit of the times into its distinctive character.
I am deeply committed to this city; I am Thuringian through and through. That is why I am committed to supporting the local area: all tradespeople and suppliers, as well as the skilled hands behind it, come from the region; I make a point of avoiding subcontractors and advocate for regional and authentic materials and products.
The original builder of this building opted for a timber-framed house with reinforced concrete on the ground floor: I had this unconventional combination faithfully carried out, whilst always paying close attention to aspects such as energy efficiency, air quality and acoustics. That is why I am convinced that wood is allowed to creak a little – that is the soul of the material speaking. Please therefore regard a slight creaking as a charming expression of nature.
I wish you a truly wonderful time filled with joy, comfort and warmth here at Carl.22. And when the time comes for you to leave, I very much hope that you’ll find it hard to say goodbye and that you’ll always be happy to return to us.

Please vacate your flat by 10.00 am. Luggage storage facilities are available 24/7 at the nearby main railway station. Please leave your key on the desk and close the door behind you.

The out-of-hours medical service is available on the helpline +49 116 117.
Pharmacy
The nearest pharmacy is on your left, about 150 metres away.
Excursions
Please contact the travel agency on the ground floor (Monday to Friday 9 am–6.30 pm, Saturday 9 am–1 pm) on extension 70 via the in-house telephone or on +49 (0) 3691 7911 70. The friendly staff will be happy to assist you.
Bathroom essentials
Towels, soap, shower gel and shampoo are provided in the bathroom. We change all towels and replenish toiletries at least once a week. Should you require any additional items, please do not hesitate to speak to your host. Additional charges may apply.
Fire safety
You are staying in a historic building: fire safety is therefore a particularly important issue. You will find a fire blanket in the wardrobe. Please note the fire safety instructions on the inside of the wardrobe. Please be aware that the smoke detectors are very sensitive; when cooking, please ensure the hall door is closed, and if smoke is detected, open the balcony door immediately and close the hall door. False alarms can result in considerable costs, which we will pass on to guests in cases of improper use or misconduct.
Iron/Ironing board
For small ironing jobs, you’ll find a tabletop ironing board and a steam iron in the wardrobe. If you have a larger pile of ironing, we’d be happy to recommend a dry cleaner or a laundrette.
Printer
We’re happy to print small quantities of A4 documents for you. Please email the documents to hello@carl22.de with a request for printing. Larger quantities and special print jobs can be done at Copy Inn on Alexanderstraße, just a few steps away.
Bicycles
If you’re travelling by bike, we recommend booking a bike locker. You can book these via the ‘Mobilet’ app. The nearest location is the City Parkhaus on Uferstraße. For fire safety and emergency access reasons, parking bicycles inside the building is not permitted at any time.
Fitness
Discover our partner gym, LIVING, on Frauenplan. If you’d like to make use of the facilities there, please speak to your Carl.22 host; we’ll be happy to put in a request for you and arrange our special guest rate. The gym offers a large training area with cardio and strength equipment, a Milon circuit and a wide range of group fitness classes. Car park
The City Parkhaus car park on Uferstraße offers a safe and dry place to park your car at affordable rates. Please get in touch with us – we offer discounted rates.
Cash machine
Opposite Carl.22, you’ll find a Deutsche Bank branch with cash machines in the lobby.
Internet
The apartments have Wi-Fi. Please connect your device to the ‘carl.22’ network and enter the password ‘ilovecarl’.

The three main churches in Eisenach are just a few minutes’ walk away. To find out the times for services and pastoral care, please check the notices displayed on the buildings.

Pillows
You’ll find an extra pillow in a box in the wardrobe in your hallway (left-hand door, top shelf). Please leave this on your bed so that we can change the pillowcase during our interim cleaning.

Nobody’s perfect
We agree. If anything isn’t to your satisfaction, please let us know straight away and give us the chance to sort it out in good time.
General Assistance
Your host will be happy to assist you, fulfil your requests and take care of any tasks on your behalf. They will be happy to offer advice, and we are sure to find a solution to your problem within our network.
Post Office
You will find a post office branch on the Marktplatz. There is also a postal agency just a few steps away, in the stationery and newsagent’s shop inside the Kaufland on Bahnhofstraße.

In Eisenach, it’s always advisable to book a table in advance; here’s a brief selection of nearby restaurants:

- Restaurant Baron at 13 Karlsplatz (opposite), Tel. +49 (0) 3691/2453240 – international cuisine with Greek influences. Open daily from 5 pm, booking recommended, closed on Mondays.
- Valentino at 7 Karlsplatz (opposite), Tel. +49 (0) 3691/8828444 – Italian cuisine. Open daily from 11 am except Mondays. Booking essential.
Umbrellas
Umbrellas are available to borrow from the wardrobe. Please do not dry your umbrella in the stairwell; other guests use this area too and nobody wants to trip over it.
Safe
You will find a safe in the left-hand section of the wardrobe. Instructions are provided inside. An emergency opening incurs an additional charge of €50 and can only be carried out in the guest’s presence.
Sauna
You will find a sauna at our partner gym, LIVING. Please call +49 (0) 3691/211981 to enquire about the current opening hours, as the sauna facilities there vary depending on the season.
Key
In the hopefully unlikely event that you have locked yourself out or lost your key, please contact your host immediately to report this. There is an additional charge of 65 euros for an emergency opening if the key is present, or 360 euros if it is lost. On departure, please leave the key on the desk and close the door behind you.
Taxi
You can contact the taxi dispatch centre on +49 (0) 3691 29000. Your host will be happy to organise any longer transfers or shuttle services for you in advance.
Tourist Information
The tourist information centre for the city of Eisenach and the Wartburg-Hainich World Heritage Region is located at 24 Markt (in the City Palace), Eisenach. It is open Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 6.00 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. You can contact the information centre by telephone on +49 (0) 3691 79230.
Events
The tourist information centre or your host will be happy to provide you with information on current events. You are also welcome to ask them to book tickets or make a reservation for you.
First-aid supplies
If you have injured yourself, you will find a sealed, single-use pack of first-aid supplies such as plasters and gauze pads. Please note that we will charge 10 euros to your room bill once the pack has been opened. You are, of course, welcome to take the pack home with you.
Laundrette
Diagonally opposite Carl.22 on Alexanderstraße, on the corner of Karlsplatz, you will find a self-service laundrette with washing machines and tumble dryers.
Wool blankets
You will find an extra wool blanket in the wardrobe in the bedroom.
